TYLER MONK

Clark County Director

 The Contingent

I am a first-generation college graduate and entrepreneur and working professional. I grew under the poverty line in the inner-city of Portland, OR where I struggled academically throughout high school. Dealing with domestic violence and substance abuse at home, I had challenges focusing on school. I was able to push through the barriers and earn a degree from Central Washington University with a focus on program management and Leadership theory, while also receiving a full ride basketball scholarship. After college, I began my career working for the Vancouver School District where I remained for 6 years. Following my passion and purpose, I currently serve as a Director at The Contingent for The Empowering Leaders Division, helping rising diverse leaders gain access to opportunities to increase their social mobility. In 2018, I began my entrepreneurial pursuits and launched my Inspirational story-telling company —The Underdog Mentality. I believe that “You can love people without leading them, but you cannot lead people without loving them. Because of that belief, my why is to help people tap into the power of their potential so they can lean into their greatness.
